It's official

Britain just attained Third world status.

This post at Wattsupwiththat about a featured article in the Tellytubbygraph.

I know we get more power outages than average out here in the Canadian boonies, but deliberately running down a power infrastructure for idealogical reasons? Now I know I've said that most UK administrators couldn't run a bath, but this just takes the whole pack of chocolate coated Hob-Nobs. Now they're admitting it in public? I'd be rolling on the floor laughing, but I've still got family back there.

Send that man a straitjacket and a trip to the rubber room. Major league facepalm territory.

Fortunately, not everyone is so stupid.

I have a feeling that the person quoted in the article was the warm up act to get us used to the idea that smart meters will manage demand when they are fully rolled out.

There is a publication entitled Future Electricity Networks published last month which suggests that the smart meter demand management capabilites will be actively used in future to align demand with available supply.

The document is here - http://www.parliament.uk/documents/post/postpn_372-future-electricity-networks.pdf

Ultimately, they won't be happy until we are sitting around a candle wondering when the lights will come back on.

Hopefully, the masses will soon sort them out when the television gets switched off and people suddenly have to start thinking for themselves of an evening.

I do wish I could leave this place though before it descends even further into farce.

Saw this mess coming a long way off and finally jumped the UK's rotting hulk back in 2007. Never regretted it for a moment. Truth be told it takes a lot of persuasion to get me to even consider visiting the UK.

One, maybe three more visits and that's it. I won't have any reason to go back at all.

Link below post reads 3 comments. The Wasps got hauled out of the spam box, and another seems invisible. That's interesting.
